GPP Sim Interposer Works With iOS 7!

GPP Sim Interposer Works With iOS 7!

Update: Apple patched exploit used by GPP in beta version 5. Gpp no longer works.

If there is one question that I have been getting more than any other lately its “does the gpp sim interposer work with iOS 7″ . The answer is YES! We have done some extensive testing with the newest beta version 1 of iOS 7 and have been able to get all iPhone 4s’s to connect without any issues.

In the past Apple has made a valiant attempt to patch the baseband so that all previous sim interposer solutions would not be compatible with the next. For example, the Gevey sims that unlocked iOS 4.3.5 did not work with any version of iOS 5 including the first beta versions and the same goes for the R-Sim unlock solution from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 6.

This raises one question in my mind… Has Apple purposefully decided to stop patching the baseband or have they just overlooked this one. Maybe, it will be patched with the final version. One thing is for sure- Apple has to make more money when unlock solutions become available. Unlocked iPhone’s means more people can use them and therefore Apple sells more iPhones.

Recently companies like AT&T and Verizon have put less and less restrictions on iPhone unlocking. They may have just come to realize that locking iPhones doesn’t equal higher customer retention. Just because I chose to unlock my AT&T iPhone 5 doesn’t mean I can now run off and join T-Mobile…. Well, I suppose I could but that wouldn’t excuse me of the financial obligation I made when I signed my two-year commitment. What do you thing?

Have you tried ios 7 beta 2 or beta 3 if it works ? I have tried ios 7 beta 2 and it took a while to get it to work. But the MMS wouldn’t work only the calls works. Also have an issue with service to work after turning phone off and on.

Yes beta 3 still works. As with any unlock you have to set mms apn settings for picture messaging. It’s easy to do I’d google your apn settings

Can you recommend GPP versus R-Sim 8 for a Sprint iPhone 4s/6.1.3?

I’m planning to pay the ETF because I live out of town and would prefer a different network’s towers. I could simply resell the 4s and buy an unlocked phone but I’m happy with the handset I have. If I want to use a Net10 SIM on the AT&T network will I get full 3G/4G network speeds?

iOS 7 beta 5 will NOT work with GPP. I tried updating yesterday and the baseband was upgraded much higher this time.

Same thing happened to me. I keep getting error 3194

This is because Apple is no longer signing later beta versions of iOS 7. You’ll need to restore back to 6.1.3 to continue using the Gpp.

After I upgraded OTA, my GPP immediately stopped working. You can download the 6.1.4 Ipsw, install tha, then download the beta 4.

Actually, does anyone know it the official release of iOS 7 will be compatible with GPP?

    • Jake August 12, 2013

I checked the official website and they said to wait for a software update to make it work ios 7 beta 5. They also mentioned that cell service will not show but can still make calls, but no text. I went back to ios 6.1.3 Not sure if that means a new gpp or just the program we have to use to install the profile.

Ok, hopefully they update their software soon. Thank you for the reply!

    reply
  16. Jake August 13, 2013

I don’t think you can update to ios 7 beta 4 because beta 5 is out now. I tried numerous of times and I keep getting errors when updating with iTunes. But if you can then yes it will work by updating. You can always install the patch anytime.

    • iPhoneTy August 13, 2013

Yes, Apple no longer signs beta 4 so you’ll get a 3194 error code.

    reply
  20. John August 14, 2013

Yes, once I noticed that the baseband patched the GPP, I was able to plug into iTunes, hold option & update and select the beta 4 Ipsw. This was last week though.

I have somewhat of a strange question…. I’m obviously using a GPP in a bad esn iPhone. This is a sprint iPhone; if I were to change the logic board to an AT&T or T-Mobile one, would that work?? I found one I can get cheap.

    reply
    • iPhoneTy August 16, 2013

Yes. You can interchange logic boards between all 4S’s they are all built identically. Same with the iPhone 5

      reply
    • Osama August 25, 2013

Where did you find your logic board?

      reply
  22. Jake August 16, 2013

Anyone try ios 7 beta 6 yet ? Is it the same?

    reply
  23. John August 16, 2013

So if I bought a logic board out of a t-mobile iPhone 5, took the sprint iPhone apart and put the t-mobile parts in, it would be the same as if I just had a t-mobile iPhone?? I got this sprint iPhone 5 for free, so I don’t mine spending around $150 if it would work.

  24. Ron August 16, 2013

Does the gpp work on sprint iphone 5 with T Mobile(6.1.4)? On iphonerepairmiamibeach it says it only works for simple mobile. On your video you used tmo, kinda confusing lol

    reply
    • iPhoneTy August 16, 2013

If you have the correct SIM card. The t-mobile nano sims have compatibility issues. I got my 128k micro that I cut to work just fine.

      reply
  25. John August 16, 2013

Look on ebay, there’s a special SIM card that works from t-mobile. I’m using one now.

    reply
  26. Ron August 16, 2013

Ok thanks john & iphonety. I’m gonna try to cut down my tmo sim but will that mess up my activation code? Let’s say it doesn’t work and I end up using this simple mobile sim, do I have to get another gpp?

Side note: really pissed I have to downgrade back to 6.1.4…ios 7 is AWESOME!

I’m hoping GPP develops an iOS 7 solution quick. Usually takes a couple months after a new iOS release before we see one on the market

      reply
  27. John August 16, 2013

No problem, the simple sim will work fine with the GPP. I was using tmobile with a simple mobile sim at first.

been messing with this iphone all day and i think i found something. ok, so i randomly decided to upgrade my sprint iphone 5 6.1.4 to ios 7 beta 5. i backed up my iphone and updated the software and right before the phone comes on i popped the sim tray out(didnt take it all the way out) got pass the activation part and while on the home screen popped the sim in(gpp with tmo sim)….voila SERVICE!(dialed 611 and sent 2 texts and went to one web page, while iit says tmobile at the top) popped the sim out and put it back but no service, says sprint at the top. so i put the activation sim in with the gpp(the blank white one that comes in the gpp package) select sprint, turned phone off, put back tmo sim, turned phone on and BAM…tmo service again. havent turned the phone off because im scared itll go away lol, if any way to post pics here or email for proof let me know.

    p.s
this was in the span of 3-4 hrs lol

    reply
  36. ron August 21, 2013

i can confirm it works but it is a headache. while i had tmobile service for hours when the phone loses service it goes back to sprint. i wonder what makes it go back n forth. its not as stable as in ios 6(far from it) really tired of doing it, hope gpp can fix this asap before they stop signing beta 5

    reply
  37. ron August 21, 2013

after losing service to sprint, i put the blank sim in with the gpp, select sprint and before i rebooted the phone i put the tmo sim in, reboot and when the phone came back on it was tmo again. lol this is driving me crazy.

    reply
    • DD August 21, 2013

So if the phone is rebooted or loses service for a moment it won’t pick the tmobile signal back up? Hopefully an update is in the near future.

      reply
  38. ron August 21, 2013

@DD right, earlier it would go in and out but remain tmobile, after awhile it just stayed sprint. really wondering why that is.

3194 means Apple no longer signs that iOS version. Once a new update is released, Apple stops signing old versions to prevent people from downgrading.

    reply
  46. Ron September 12, 2013

I haven’t tried it because I was told you would need iTunes 11.1 in order to sync the phone. I’m using gpp and not gevey anyway so it still probably wouldn’t work for me. I either want a gpp update(or new gpp for ios 7) or a 6.1.4 jailbreak.

    reply
  47. Osama September 12, 2013

Do not update to iOS7 GM if you are using GPP. It doesnt work. Now I cant go back up to iOS7 beta 4 because Apple stopped signing it. I’m in the process of finding a logic board for another carrier so I can unlock it and go back to iOS7 GM.

yup doesnt work. back to 6.1.4. im also looking for another logic board. but its damn near the price for a whole phone. just might sell this sprint 5 and go for a unlocked 5 or pay the few hundred for the 5s smh
